CALB semi-solid "top-tier" cylindrical battery is targeting the eVTOL market.

Global demand for the eVTOL market is heating up, coupled with frequent domestic low-altitude economy policies, making the past three years a critical period for the large-scale development of the eVTOL industry. As a key power source, high-safety, high-performance batteries are one of the core elements for the industrialization of eVTOL. At the recent 2024 Shenzhen eVTOL Expo, CALB unveiled its latest development, the "Top-Tier High Energy - Super Flight Battery." This battery was first launched at the 2024 CALB Global Ecological Conference in August, and its public appearance further showcases CALB's technical strength and innovation capability in the eVTOL power battery field.

It is reported that this high-energy flight-specific battery supports both pure electric and hybrid models, suitable for various configurations such as multi-rotor, compound wing, and vector wing designs. It can provide sufficient power for an 8-ton eVTOL, supporting a range of 3,000 kilometers in hybrid mode. In terms of performance, the battery uses a hybrid solid-liquid electrolyte, with an extreme temperature tolerance of up to 200°C and an energy density reaching 350 Wh/kg. While maintaining high energy density, it supports continuous discharges of 10C+, meeting the adaptability requirements for the entire flight of air taxis.

In terms of battery structure, it employs CALB's innovative integrated design and "top-tier" structural design, reducing structural impedance by 50% and lowering temperature rise during high-power discharge, thereby enhancing flight accessibility. CALB's "Top-Tier High Energy - Super Flight Battery" is planned for market launch in 2026. To achieve continuous improvements in lightweight design and safety performance, CALB remains committed to safety as a foundation, emphasizing innovation and increasing R&D investment.

On October 24, 2022, the world's first electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, the XPeng Huizhen X3 prototype, successfully made its maiden flight. This vehicle is equipped with CALB's 9-series high nickel/silicon battery developed for low-altitude travel. In July of this year, during a drop test of the XPeng Huizhen flying car's power battery pack, CALB's "mid-high energy power battery pack" fell from a height of 15.2 meters without any cushioning protection and showed no signs of smoke or fire after being left undisturbed for 24 hours, receiving high safety recognition from customers.

Looking at the development of the low-altitude industry led by eVTOL, the government provides comprehensive support in various aspects, including airspace opening, industry support, and airworthiness certification. The industry has entered a "new blue ocean" of policy opportunities. Industry forecasts suggest that the global eVTOL market size will reach $35 billion (approximately 254.3 billion RMB) by 2025, and it is expected to exceed $1 trillion (approximately 7.2 trillion RMB) by 2040, driving the eVTOL battery market to exceed 1 trillion RMB.

It is evident that, in the race toward a trillion-dollar market, CALB has already taken the lead in technology development, mass production support, and channel construction.
